Position on the issue

A critical environmental issue that demands immediate attention and action is the increased melting of snow.Due to rising temperatures brought on by multi-ple global reasons, snow is melting at a never-before-seen rate due to cli-mate change. Wide-ranging effects of this phenomenon include changes in weather patterns, flooding risks, disruptions to ecosystems, and challenges in managing water resources.Temperatures in Arizona have risen about 2.5°F since the beginning of the 20th century. The first 21 years of this century have been the warmest period on record for the state.

The goal of the proposed EOC proposal is to create a building that is influ-enced by the distinctive terrain of the area while also bringing attention to the important process of snowmelt in the mountains.
Drawing inspiration from the surround-ing terrain, the building's design in-tegrates elements that mimic the con-tours and features of the local topog-raphy.

CONCEPT STATEMENT

FLOOR SELECTION

A consistent design language that follows the contour levels of the surrounding
topography combines the floors of the building and creates a coherent
story. This approach also functions as a metaphor, reflecting the natural
development found in the region's many landscapes, for the journey from
public participation at the base level to private refuge at the peak.
